Going Back to the 80s!

In the mid 1980s, my favourite skirt that I wore to death, was a cotton skirt with a blue jean top at the hips. It was awesome! I loved it! Mine was white cotton flare, it fell mid shin, and the top was a typical faded blue jean. It came in a little widow's peak v down from the waist, over the belly, and fit so nice and snug on the hips. This is the closest example I can find on line. Mine had a little V cut though, to the jean part, and was just plain white cotton on bottom. I got it as a gift for my birthday. I am not sure who made it, maybe Cotton Ginny.

I decided I wanted to make my own faux version of this style! It is so hippie Boho, and I still love it today. I created digital denim patterning in Photoshop, using paths, I played around with a V shape until I got it to fall right on the skirt. I tiled one of my favourite Mandala patterns on the bottom. It doesn't have the zipper and half pockets like the jean top on my real one, but I wanted the same look at least. I could mock up a zipper and pockets, but like this as it is. It has the same feel.

I have made this available on my Artofwhere store on a Flare Skirt :-)
